When I was a child, I was always happy to see the fourth of July arrive to much fanfare. Wherever we were, be it at home in the QC, or at some condo or resort in an exotic location; we knew that there would be food, fun, and festivies. Oh, and the fireworks…..ALWAYS the fireworks. A loud thunderous BOOM was followed by sprays of magnificent color that would fill the velvety ink of the sky. My favorites were always the ones that looked like Gold Dust (and still are). Of course, as magical as any firework display, was the thought of getting to hold my own sparkler if I promised Daddy not to burn my fingers; and the joy of snapping little white packets of paper filled with powder onto the ground while hearing a little “pop”. Those days were precious, and will always hold a place in my heart.
